I could have never imagined that anybody outside of our immediate circle of friends would give a flying rat's ass about anything we were doing.įarkas: What are your plans going forward? The Specialist: The two most surprising things for me thus far are that we were approached by individuals like yourself and the Pink Poker Bunny requesting to either interview us or be interviewed by us. My main motivations for doing the show were to both have something that our friends could listen to, but also to document a period in my life that I could play in 15 or 20 years and have a laugh listening to.įarkas: What has surprised you the most with regard to the impact of your podcast(s)? I kind of look at our show as the gross underbelly of "Seinfeld," in that we do conversational humor about somewhat taboo subjects. I felt that the types of things we were talking about with each other weren't being discussed in any other outlets of the mainstream media. Our normal topics of conversation often focused on the irregularities in our own bowel movements and our other disgusting habits. AKG and I had never even listened to any other shows before we started ours, but our initial game plan was just to record a 15- or 20-minute phone conversation between the two of us. The Specialist: I first heard about podcasting as a phenomenon where everyday people were producing their own Internet radio shows from home. It was during this time, they say, that "we realized that we were both fascinated with our own smells, swabbings, and toilet habits."įarkas: What made you decide to create your own podcast? What were your reasons? The Specialist and AKG were roommates at a small liberal-arts college in the Northeast.
